I started on the gear doublers today.
I matched drilled the the holes from the strut attachment into the gear channel and drilled the first bolt hole in the doubler on the bench. I used some screws and nuts I got from Home Depot to hold the doubler in place while I match drilled the second bolt hole. Then I marked out the remaining rivet holes on the doubler and drilled those to #40 on the bench. I borrowed someone else's trick I saw about using a piece of cardboard as a spacer and match drilling into the gear channel with the doubler on the outside instead of trying to drill it from the inside. This worked out great and was way easier to get to everything. I only got one doubler on the right side finished today; didn't have much time available to work on anything else.
