Today, I disassembled the seat area and replaced the gear channel.  Last time, we used a C-clamp to bend the tabs of the right strut attachment in a couple of millimeters to see if that would help but it just wouldn't fit on the old gear channel.  With this new gear channel, the right strut attachment fit with no issues.  The left strut attachment wouldn't fit, so I bent the tabs in a bit also and then it was fine.  The holes line up now too, except for a couple of them which look a little off.  I still need to open the holes up a size so it may be ok.
