Right Wing

22OCT2022

I got my fuel tanks back from Tom's welder friend; they came out nice.

This morning, Tom was able to help me slide the wing down the table so the end was hanging off enough for me to drill out rivets in the nose skin.

Then I spent some time prepping and priming a few pieces and drilled out the rivets for the nose skin.

I also worked on the tank rear support bracket and was able to get that installed.  I liked the idea  I saw from other builders to put in two A4 rivets to hold the bracket in place until the skins are ready to be riveted.  I put in two A4 rivets, countersunk the holes and used the flat nose on the rivet gun.

I also tried to start putting in the cork around the fuel tank, but the vent and drain holes weren't quite lining up great so I decided to come back to that a different time.

I then match drilled the holes in the new nose skin and filed a larger radius on the relief cutout.  I also match drilled the rear skin to the root channel.
